'It was either going to be him or me' Jacksonville barber says about bandit

After being robbed once with his gun just out of arms reach, a Jacksonville barber vowed if there was a next time, he’d be ready.

That chance came Thursday, but not without a mighty scare.

The 39-year-old victim exchanged gunfire with a man who fell backward at one point, apparently so startled that his target had a gun. The attack occurred at the First Coast Barber Academy, a barber school owned by the victim on Timuquana Road.

Neither the victim nor the suspect were hurt. The Times-Union is not identifying the victim because no arrests have been reported.
