OK, I would call this homeowner overzealous.....
Edited on Mon Apr-25-11 09:43 PM by Logical
A south-central Kansas homeowner is facing charges in the shootings of two people suspected of breaking into his house.

The wounded suspects were taken to a Wichita hospital early Monday. The Wellington Daily News reports one was treated and taken into custody, while the other remained in intensive care. Sumner County Sheriff's Capt. Mike Yoder says a 46-year-old man woke up in his Milton home around 3 a.m. Monday to find someone inside.

Yoder says the homeowner grabbed a rifle, chased the burglar outside and opened fire on a group of about four people. The homeowner was later arrested on suspicion of aggravated battery. Kansas law allows the use of force against a burglary suspect inside a home or workplace. In this case, deputies said the suspects were already outside.

7. Too many gun owners -- especially public toters -- are just looking for a reason to shoot.

Unarmed, not a threat, etc. -- doesn't matter. Gun toter has paid a lot for his weapon, practiced for that moment and ain't gonna waste it.

10. I'm glad you're a psychic, and you can read other people's thoughts and feelings.
After all, it's not like you have any actual evidence for such a statement. Since, after all, statistics show you're less likely to be shot by someone legally carrying concealed than you are a member of the "average public."

Out of curiosity, do you also believe that a woman making reproductive decisions for herself is "just looking for a reason to have an abortion"?

15. And this is what anti-gunners really believe
it is mostly projection on their part. If *they* had a gun *they* would like to use it. They project their feelings on to everyone else and are horrified at the thought of people like themselves being armed.

17. Could you tell us just how you know public toters (sic) are...
are just looking for a reason to shoot." Is there empirical evidence? I don't just mean anecdotal stories.

12. His problem was he let em' get away.
The law is in error then and needs to be modified. Here in Georgia, we can shoot such criminals; don't let em' get away, especially carjackers and car thieves.

20. Now that's funny. I didn't know the NRA voted in state legislatures?
I always thought it was the legally elected representatives of the people that voted for or against Castle doctrine and all the other state level firearm related laws.

That's as dumb as the people that assured us that Missouri, Minnesota, Kansas et. al. were all being "pushed" into allowing CCW by the NRA and the "people" would throw it out in the very next round of elections. None of them has even proposed repealing it, unless of course you have a big announcement to share on repealing CCW in Maine? We're waiting? Any filled petitions yet?

So the representatives seem to be doing what their voters want them to do ... and your positions on castle doctrine concealed carry etc. are just not popular with enough people to even get it on a referendum ballot. Or ... maybe those people are just all mouth and gas bag and no action on these issues.

14. Maybe he got a bit carried away..
The article wasn't too clear...I mean, were all 4 people part of the burglary? If they were, and despite what Kansas law says, IMO they got what they deserved..

19. Yep, pretty much illegal anywhere, as it should be.
Edited on Tue Apr-26-11 02:43 PM by The Green Manalishi
Simple fact- you can't shoot someone running away. If they are no longer a threat you rea *probably* in deep trouble, even if they had recently threatened you. Now if they'd made threats to come back and do something to you and/or your family there might be a case to be made that it's better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6....

The only good robber, rapist or carjecker is one who is rapidly expiring from a gaping chest wound, but the law is the law.
