5. I don't think at all that's what the CBS story said
Maybe something lost in translation.

Let me see here:

Over the weekend, the Mexican attorney general stated: "The controlled trafficking of weapons is not authorized under the Mexican national legislation. An operation that would contemplate this would not have been acceptable to the Mexican government, and it will never be under any circumstance."

Don't see anything there about the GOP/NRA blocking the ATF from monitoring
multiple straw gun sales at US gun shops and gun shows

Nope, nothing there at all.

NOPE
NOPE

NOPE

7. Imagine that...
One sovereign nation getting irritated when another sovereign nation ignores its laws out of pure self interest.

What pisses me off is that the ATF and their fellow agencies are pointing to the violence in Mexico, citing made up numbers. Like the "90% of the guns traced come back to the US" line. Sure, 90% of the guns TRACED come back to the US, but they only trace about 20% of the guns that are siezed. The cartels are certainly not getting freaking RPGs and 40mm grenades at gun shows, nor are they buying full auto belt fed weapons at the gun show. Why would they spend 500 bucks for a semi-auto AK when they could purchase them from whatever "revolutionary" group (who likely got them from Russia) wanted to sell a few crates for 100 bucks a piece?

Or they're M16s that the US gave to the Mexican army, from whom they were stolen (or sold). And thanks to Mexico's super restrictive gun laws, the only folks who have guns in some towns are the Cartels. There aren't any police, because the cartels kill them, and the army is busy escorting drug shipments north.
