http://www.tallahassee.com/article/20110309/BREAKINGNEWS/110309003/Update--Lawmakers-drop-provision-in--open-carry--gun-bill-allowing-firearms-on-campuses

Lawmakers have removed a provision in a proposed 'open-carry' gun bill that would have allowed firearms on state campuses and private elementary and secondary schools.

State Sen. Paula Dockery, R-Lakeland, a member of the Senate Criminal Justice Committee, pushed successfully this afternoon to remove the provision from the bill.

8. I am not sure I would advocate for either, but concealed would be preferable.
I just don't agree with adults parading around in front of kids openly displaying firearms in an educational setting. Especially young children.

Irony, at it's finest.

17. That would not be about "training" per se....

but exposure to the fact that peaceful exercise of a civil right without government forced furtiveness does not mean rivers of blood in the gutters.

Hence educational.

Aren't you one of those conspiracy theorists that's always yammering about the great Republican/NRA collusion to arm each and every American?

State Sen. Paula Dockery, R-Lakeland, a member of the Senate Criminal Justice Committee, pushed successfully this afternoon to remove the provision from the bill.

Unless something must have gone horribly wrong... why are you backing/supportive of the motives of a Republican ?

5. But....
you're still agreeing with a decision made by a Republican with regards to the 2nd amendment.

Doesn't that contradict what you've been screaming about all along?

Is the NRA involved in this?

I don't know... it would have been nice if you provided a link that didn't require a sign-up.

But... even if the NRA is/was involved (and it was doomed to failure), you really don't understand the game plan and/or strategy... do you?

20. Now with that provision stripped from the bill
it will be that much easier to pass the concealed carry part.

11. PREDICTION: The following will happen:
Campus concealed carry will pass in Texas and possibly some other states.

There will not be the predicted destruction of higher education that the antis claim will happen.

A very few students will use their guns defensively to prevent themselves from violent criminal attacks.

In another state, in a gun-free college there will be another mass shooting.

Then there will be a wave of states enacting college concealed carry.

19. YUP, with the open carry removed it will make it that much
easier to pass the concealed carry. That rep knew that it would make it easier.
