Homeless man stabs three in Sayreville Burger King (Nah, no reason to OC in a fast food place)
SAYREVILLE -- An apparently homeless man armed with a six-inch steak knife randomly stabbed three customers at a Burger King in Sayreville on Saturday, police said.

William Pittel, 58, was arrested for allegedly stabbing William Scully, 70, of Sayreville, who was sitting with his wife and two women from Sayreville, Cecelia Wilson, 86, and Josephine Skarzynski, 87, who were at another table around 6:20 p.m., Sayreville Police Detective Mathew Bandurski said.

Whew. Thank goodness no one had a gun. The homeless guy could have been hurt.

1. "Police arrested Pittel after locating him inside a neighboring pizza shop. "
Looks like the police arrested the perpetrator without the aid of random citizens carrying guns.

3. Rather than being stopped by random citizens carrying guns, he was stopped by our proxies
Government employees carrying guns.

4. Sure hope they kept their guns holstered. It's easy to disarm someone with a knife
according to a lot of posters.

5. Yes, because arresting him after the fact is more important than halting the attack in progress.

6. Are you suggesting a CCW holder should have arrested him?
They are not authorized to do that, so obviously the police arrested him.

9. I imagine it depends on the state
Citizens Arrest exists in Pa, but only for a felony. I imagine attempted murder would qualify.

7. Correct me if I'm wrong, but
OC is not legal in NJ. CCW is illegal unless you have ass-loads of money under NJ's system. So what are the odds of a CCWer being inside of a Burger King in NJ? 4,896,365,974 to 1 ish?

8. I understand, but it's a response to those who say they
don't want to be confronted by OC'ers at Mickey D's (or any FF restaurant) cause they'd be skert of 'em.

10. Jersey is all kinds of messed up
It is illegal to carry hollow points In Jersey because they cause more damage then FMJ ammo.
O.O
what are they smoking? When you shoot its to kill. Besides, I dont carry high quality hollow points to cause more damage, thats a bonus. I carry them so they stay in whoever I shoot. FMJ is far more likely to pass through and continue on. AFAIK thats a big reason police use them. I couldnt find a direct link to that through a quick search but did find this bit
"hollow-point bullets are one of the most common types of civilian and police ammunition, due largely to the reduced risk of bystanders being hit by over-penetrating"
and found out they are prohibited from warfare by the Hauge Convention. I thought it was the Geneva Accords. Learn something every day!

You can own JHPs, and target shoot with them, but cant carry them in a self defense gun. Maybe in the home Im not certain.
I sure wouldnt plink with ammo thats $1 per round or more.

I know plenty of shooters in NJ, and none of them have a permit to carry. All denied. They come west to carry in Pa.
