More deaths in a "disarmament zone" Too bad all it will do is bring a call for more "pie in the sky" legislation... They have yet, to pass a law, that a criminal will follow...all they want to do it seems, with all practically all up coming gun control bills, is take away the guns from those, who did NOT do it.

Good thing, thing, they have zero hope of passage in the vast majority of the nation.

What do you expect?

Best to stick to something that you know- like Joe Bageant country, rather than sounding foolish and parochial.

7. Richmond, California.
A suburb of San Francisco, basically.

Pay attention and read the OP. You may not sound as foolish as you generally do.

But I highly doubt it.

3. There are more guns per capita there than almost anywhere else in the country
And I doubt if more than a few of them are covered by any silly ass CCW permits or other forms of gun control.

It's the farthest thing from a "disarmament zone" you can imagine. EVERYBODY is armed. And the cops have very little control over it.

It's pure darwinism, libertarian policies run amok. Is it bad? Hard to say.

I'm opposed to any limitations on the ownership of firearms so maybe I'm the wrong guy to ask.

8. The San Francisco Bay Area has more guns than anywhere in the country?
Who knew?

9. This ain't your daddy's bay area, dude
Very few latte drinkin liberals live in Richmond.

Demographics - 36% african american, 27% hispanic, 21% white, and 12% asian.

almost 20% unemployment, median household income $44,000 far below the average for the bay area.

Crime rate off the charts. It's a rough place.

I worked there over 40 years ago as a college student, repossessing cars. It was a lot kinder and gentler in those days. But it was still scary.

10. Huh.
I'd always had the impression of the entire Bay area as being uniformly, if not upscale, then at least comfortably middle class, and SoCal being where the state's problem areas congregated. Goes to show what I know never having been to CA.

12. Richmond, Oakland and East Palo Alto...
...are definitely the most unpleasant places in the Bay Area, or at least selected neighborhoods of those cities. Oakland and Richmond tend to be in the top ten of Congressional Quarterly's "Most Dangerous Cities," which ranks cities of 75,000 population and over by crime rates for murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, and motor vehicle theft. Oakland is usually in 4th or 5th place, Richmond in 9th.

East Palo Alto isn't anywhere near as bad as it used to be (Dangerous Minds was set in EPA), but even it weren't, it only has a population of 30-35,000, so it gets left out of a lot of lists.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding.
