Obama preparing to name two new justices
SCOTUS watchers believe justices Stevens, Ginsburg could decide to step aside.

Lawyers for President Obama have been working behind the scenes to prepare for the possibility of one, and maybe two Supreme Court vacancies this spring.

Court watchers believe two of the more liberal members of the court, justices John Paul Stevens and Ruth Bader Ginsburg, could decide to step aside for reasons of age and health. That would give the president his second and third chance to shape his legacy on the Supreme Court.

Last week, when Obama took the nearly unprecedented step of criticizing the court's opinion in a major campaign finance case during his State of the Union speech, some believed he was showcasing for the American people that presidential elections, and Supreme Court nominations count.

If true, this is moderately good news for gun rights. Obama claims to believe that the Second Amendment protects individual rights, and even if that is pure political posturing, it would be hard to find replacements more determined to make the Amendment a nullity than those two.

The only possible change on the gun rights balance of the Court is improvement.

1. So, you are for replacing two marginally-liberal justices with reich-wing cretins who will
allow you to carry your weapons into schools and courtrooms?

Guns uber alles, I guess.

2. Grow up.
Does being in support of ALL our rights make a person a "reich-wing cretin" now? Seriously, this isn't grade school anymore, even though your behavior would suggest otherwise.

3. Oh, Good Grief.
Why would Obama appoint "reich-wing cretins"?

12. Why don't you support people's rights?
Why are certain rights expendable to you?

5. Clever.
I guess you also realize that the Second Amendment has been ignored, unlike the others.

As Alan Dershowitz put it, "foolish liberals" tried to write it out of the Constitution, cluelessly unaware that if they succeeded, conservatives would use the same techniques to get rid of other rights.

I'm glad you and I are smarter than that. We realize the the vulnerable rights must be protected or ALL rights are vulnerable.

10. I'd prefer some justices who would overturn the recent pro-corporate BS.
Obama stated his displeasure. We all have. I've even heard "conservatives" say it's a bad idea.
