Good News in Virginia!! Gun Rights, are the rule of the day....Thanks to the Brady Campaign
Edited on Fri Jan-29-10 12:29 PM by virginia mountainman
Several "pro gun rights" bills are working their way thru subcommittees, here in Richmond, and most "gun control" wet dreams have already been dashed on the rocks. The "so called" gun show loophole bill was smashed last night in a house sub committee, by a 4 to 1 vote, and if the senate version somehow passes, (extremely unlikely) it will need to be voted on in the same house committee that just smashed it last night.... SO IT, is dead.

Many pro gun bills are well on their way to becoming law in Virginia...

Sara Brady, Paul Helmke, Kristan Rand, Mike Bloomberg... you started this fight back in the 1990's, YOU, have only yourself to blame for this. YOU kept "poking" at people with you lies and distortions, and now, you will reap the seeds that you sowed. You woke the "bear" and now you get to retreat from it. People are more engaged in this debate than ever before, and they are arrayed against you, and your Republican Minions..

And now we march.. A couple of weeks ago, well over a thousand gun rights supporters showed up in Richmond, to speak to their legislators, less than one hundred anti-civil rights advocates even bothered to show up, a fact that was NOT lost on the local media, and was widely reported in the news.

I thank you, for getting the public engaged on this very important issue, after all, without you stirring up the public, we probably would not have developed the clout we have today, to pass good laws like Shall issue, Concealed Handgun in most states.

You know, since 1994...the Brady Campaign, VPC, and others of it's ilk...would have done much better by keeping their collective mouths shut.....Atleast then, they would not be royally pissing off voters, and creating new gun advocates...Like they are doing in Washington State right now with all that "talk" about an already incredibly unpopular Assault Weapon ban.. don't the dumb asses know it is an election year??? O well...they will learn.

O well...

8. They are in decline from their 1993 peak but are not in an historical
decline. They have stabilized and are still by far the highest in the industrialized world.

9. You are looking at TOTAL crime, which HAS gone down, despite more that 300 million guns
in the hands of LEGAL owners. Your stat on gun crime is just THAT, gun CRIME, which is most often committed by criminals that had no legal right to posses a gun in the first place.

My point is, that your assertion that more guns = more crime is just not true, but the facts show exactly the opposite.

Criminals will ALWAYS be able to get guns, no matter WHAT kind of gun control there is. The bigger issue is that there ARE more LEGAL guns now than ever before, and crime has not followed at all, as was predicted by those opposed to loosening legal gun ownership.

13. The rise in crime starting in the 70's, and
still at a historic highs has very little to do with guns, and almost everything to do with the insane drug war we insist on fighting.

4. A look thru the posts down here tell the tale
Gun Rights advocates, are clearly on the march, whereas, gun control is clearly in fast retreat, in practically all but a couple states.

The "areas" where gun controllers seem to still find a receptive audience for there BS is in crime ridden hell holes that already have strict gun control..

But even their, they are becoming much weaker. their are even cracks in some "gun control" states that are starting to show.
