Does anyone know what the NRA is phoning about?
They called just now and I saw them on the caller ID last week.

They wanted mr tosh. I told them he is not a member. "Well, we would like his opinion anyway."

Is this a membership drive, a poll, or what?

2. It's probably the guns for toddlers campaign.
Nothing in the Constitution about age restrictions.

They assume the framers want semiautomatic handguns for Everyone.

17. Fetal Gun Rights?
You are clearly not taking this serious Constitutional issue... seriously.

4. This is weird...
I'm on the NRA's mailing list, but apparently not in their phone queue. I never get calls from their recruiters.

That's okay. I've got another thing going as it is. :hi:

8. They called an asked for my son Mr......
they didn't want to talk to me I was a woman. I told the WOMAN calling I did not agree with the )(*()*&)(*^*)%%$$ organization and since it was illegal they better not call this number again. If I had a whistle I would have blown it in her ear. I do not under any circumstance want that bunch of trash to ever call again. And afterward I was embarrassed that I swore, but they mad me angry.

9. It was a woman in this case, too, but a young one.

She clearly didn't want to talk to this female, either.

LOL, it's not very likely that they will reach mr tosh at this number. I was so curious about WHY they were calling that I didn't even think about the Do Not Call violation.

I will have some fun with it if she calls back.

edit sp.

16. It's probably not illegal, actually.
The Do Not Call list has a specific exception for political groups. The NRA-ILA, their lobbying arm, would probably qualify.

11. Oh indeed!
And what's this? Planned Parenthood calling me? What are THEY up to now? Their new Forced Abortions for Christians program?

Oh gee, I guess it's not so funny when the stupid BS is turned on an org you like, now is it? You don't care about your 2a rights? Fair enough, that's your problem. But this sort of crap makes each of you look no better than the drooling-mouths on the other side of the political spectrum. In fact, it makes you look worse, because so many of us claim to be "above" that sort of stuff.

12. Umm,... what??
WTF are you talking about? :silly:

Nothing in this post or the replies to it state anything about my stand on 2a rights, as you call them. Fair enough? I have no problem.

The absence of my household's support of the NRA tells you nothing.

Pull yourself together and start your own thread about your call from Planned Parenthood.

My point was that you guys are making fun of an organization who's goal is to protect your 2a rights. You can try and act like that doesn't have anything to say about your stand on the 2a, and you could be right (there are some 2a supporters that go beyond holding the NRA in very low regard for their own reasons) but generally when a progressive on the DU starts cracking jokes about the NRA and how it's trying to arm babies, it's a pretty good indicator on where they stand on the issue.

So I turned the joke around onto an org that most of us support, and I made the same sort of stereotyped (for a conservative anyway) joke. I did this to make a point. When you keep perpetuating stereotypes such as the ones on here, people start to believe them. Hell, a couple of you probably do believe the NRA wouldn't be beyond some of the stuff that was brought up. But the NRA is not entirely the group of wack-jobs some of you like to think it is, and trying to make it out to be so is counter productive.

EDIT: Listen, maybe I'm over-reacting, but seriously, between a couple of other posts in this forum, as well as RL, I'm really tired of some of the ignorant-ass things that are getting spewed around here, and the "jokes" in here were just the straw for me.
