In Virginia the militia IS 55 BUT..the wording is noncommital on service of both sexes

from the 1623 original *In 1623 the Virginia General Assembly commanded, "that men go not to worke in the ground without their arms; That no man go or send abroad without a sufficient partie well armed."

BUT a later update says

*n 1971, the Virginia Bill of Rights under Article I, Section 13, was changed to the following:

"That a well regulated militia, composed of the body of the people, trained to arms, is the proper, natural, and safe defense of a free state, therefore, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed; that standing armies, in time of peace, should be avoided as dangerous to liberty; and that in all cases the military should be under strict subordination to, and governed by, the civil power."*

So the gender thing is questionable

Chances are that such a large purchase of 30-06 would be military surplus rounds, meaning that they'd be at least mostly lead free. I'm not aware of lead free 9mm rounds, though, but I might just never have heard of them.

I own guns also. I don't need that much ammo. The old saying is, "Never shoot to wound. Always shoot to kill."
I got all of my target practice in back before the NRA became a fascist lobbying propaganda mouthpiece and was just an organization that taught gun saftey. I have what is called excellent aim.

Another thing one learns is that you only have a 20% chance of hitting a moving target unless your skeet shooting or aiming at a static trajectory or have 'heat seeking bullets'. The target has an 80% chance of getting away.

My guns are for protection. I no longer hunt. I'm not a gun nut. A gun is a tool not a reason for living. It can be a reason for dying. If you live by the sword you will die by the sword.

For those who don't know, that amount of cash might only fetch 4k of decent center-fire rifle ammo or 5-6k of pistol ammo. Depending on how much you shoot, it could be a decent stash for a few or serveral years.

Its a good investment. If you don't shoot it all in 3-4 years, it will likely be worth more than it is today.
