Bill allowing loaded guns in cars passes Utah House
A bill that would allow law-abiding Utahns to carry a loaded, concealed weapon in cars or have them in their homes passed the House Thursday.

HB357 sponsor Sen. Stephen Sandstrom says the bill "actually enhances safety" in homes as currently is legal to have a gun on top of a nightstand in full view, but illegal to put it in the drawer, away from children.

"This bill brings us into line with other states. People have the right to defend themselves, and in no way is this going to hurt the safety or well-being of law-abiding citizens," Sandstrom said.

The bill passed 65-8 and moves to the Senate for further debate.

3. There are some weird state laws on the books, in NC
w/o a CCW, you can keep a loaded gun in your car *IN PLAIN SIGHT*, however any form of conealment is prohibited (and this includes transporting your gun from home to the range) unless its unloaded and secure away from access (ie, trunk of a car, or bed of a pickup truck, backseat will not cut it).
