NRA endorses Altmire in race against Hart

The National Rifle Association on Thursday endorsed U.S. Rep. Jason Altmire, D-McCandless, in his bid for a second two-year term in Congress.
Altmire faces a rematch in November with former Rep. Melissa Hart of Bradford Woods, the Republican he ousted in 2006. Support from the NRA was a factor credited with helping Hart win the 4th Congressional District seat in 2000.

In a letter to Altmire, an NRA national official cited Altmire's consistent support of "the Constitutional rights of law-abiding gun owners and sportsmen."

Hart said the Washington-based NRA typically supports incumbents if they haven't voted against NRA issues. Hart said local "sportsmen and gun club members here have supported me for many years because they know my record" for backing Second Amendment rights.

Here's my prediction. Quite a few local candidates will be endorsed by the NRA this year. Just like other years. Only a moron backs a loser.

They will probably endorse McCain this year. I see little chance of his winning.

Of course some people will consider the NRA leadership "morons", however their efforts have managed to turn back the efforts of many enlightened and intelligent anti-gun groups.

Its not simply saying something like "he/she will defend the rights of Pennsylvania's sportsmen" or "he/she believes the second amendment protects an individual right" that will get one kicked up and down here, or anywhere else.

Its saying one of those things after voting consistantly and almost without exceptiuon AGAINST the rights and interests of gun owners that might get one kicked "up and down" this forum or others. Kerry did that. Obama did that. I'll be voting for him, however, his voting record speaks for itself on firearms and the interests of firearm owners.

Feel free to try to find an example to the contrary.
