Alleged smuggler facing death row in Jakarta

Jakarta - An Indonesian prosecutor has recommended a death sentence for a South African accused of trying to smuggle 1,18kg of heroin into the country, a report said on Wednesday.

The state prosecutor told the court at Medan in North Sumatra that Konkwo Nonso Kingsley, 29, tried to smuggle the drug in 65 capsules through the city's international airport last October, the Antara news agency said.

Kingsley, who had arrived from Kuala Lumpur, was detained after sniffer dogs barked at him. He had swallowed the 65 capsules.
