Winning a battle to have barricades removed in an exclusive Sandton suburb has had serious repercussions for a resident.

Lorna Puterill has since been subjected to a sustained campaign of abuse by Chartwell North residents. This culminated in an explosive, believed to have been a home-made firecracker, being thrown over her wall.

Sunday's explosion was heard several blocks away and landed close to her husband, Dennis, who was walking in the garden.

The following day, a man rang the house intercom and said the next explosion would be even bigger.
