A Democratic Progressive Party lawmaker yesterday said he would withdraw from the political arena if his accusations of Lien Chan's (??) involvement in tax evasion proved false.
In an address at President Chen Shui-bian's (???) campaign headquarters, DPP lawmaker Tuan Yi-kang (???) expressed disappointment that Lien had ignored the allegation, while his daughter Lien Hui-hsin's lied about why she transferred her household registration during the period of investigation of the alleged tax evasion.
On Monday Tuan's charged that Lien had helped his daughter evade a NT$400 million gift tax in 1991.
"If the Lien family -including Lien Chan, Lien Fang Yu, and their sons and daughters - is proved to have never been involved any tax fraud, I will immediately end my political career."
