Israel behind Bush's drive
Cairo - A state-owned Egyptian newspaper on Saturday said US President George W Bush's drive for democracy in the Middle East was an Israeli-inspired idea aimed against countries hostile to Israel.

Akhbar Elyom's chairperson and chief editor Ibrahim Saada, a man close to President Hosni Mubarak, said in an opinion piece covering the entire front page that Bush's message was also an attempt to divert Americans' attention from the Iraqi "swamp."

"I don't rule out that the Israelis were the ones to have advised President Bush to announce this important discovery, that is democracy, and his invitation for implementing it in the Arab world and Iran as well as other countries hostile to both the United States and Israel," wrote Saada.

2. Bush speech 'like a boring, broken record'
American President George Bush's calls for democracy rang hollow in the Middle East, where many on Friday said they were appalled that Washington was preaching liberty for Arabs while occupying Iraq.

The war on Iraq and Washington's support for Israel in its bloody conflict with the Palestinians have antagonised many Arabs and Muslims who were already seething at the United States war on terrorism, which is seen by many as a battle against Islam.

Bush's sweeping foreign policy speech on Thursday, in which he challenged ally Egypt and foes Iran and Syria to adopt democracy, has further fuelled Arab indignation.

"Bush's speech is like a boring, broken record that nobody believes," said Gulf-based political analyst Moghazy al-Badrawy.

3. Might this be a bit of a biased headline?
From the article:

"Akhbar Elyom's chairperson and chief editor Ibrahim Saada, a man close to President Hosni Mubarak, said in an opinion piece covering the entire front page that Bush's message was also an attempt to divert Americans' attention from the Iraqi "swamp."

"I don't rule out that the Israelis were the ones to have advised President Bush to announce this important discovery, that is democracy, and his invitation for implementing it in the Arab world and Iran as well as other countries hostile to both the United States and Israel," wrote Saada.

"I also do not rule out that the US Jewish lobby stands behind this invitation that contains attacks against Arab governments with which it (Washington) has old ties," in order to damage those relations, he said."

Sounds like speculation to me in the text of the article but yet the headline is stated as fact.

It's a known and proven fact, proven many times that * will pass the buck to any person, agency, country or planet rather than take an ounce of responsibility for every breath of air he takes.

It's a known and proven fact that certain countries in the Middle East will find a way to insinuate that Israel is responsible for every known ill that permeates this planet. Whether it's through control of the media, all financial institutions, control of both Houses of Congress through lobbying interests, secret embedding of moles in Federal agencies, control of Hollywood even the control of the National Basketball Association through David Stern.

4. They are a part of it
...the pro Israeli think tanks and lobby groups are the natural allies of the defense contractor, energy sector, Christian religious right alliance that are behind the BFEE drive to "pre-emptive war" and world domination. They are a part of the equation but hardly the motivating force. As well as the pro Israel neo con faction that is so influential in the Pentagon, there is the much touted Republican domestic electoral strategy to pry the average democratic Jewish voter over to this new orientation.

The manipulative aspect of this must always be kept in mind. Are Israelis in general or Jewish Americans responsible for the diastrous course of our own illegitimate and unaccountable administration? Hardly. They have no more influence over what is happening than the average joe sixpack.

Is the horribly mislead Sharon regime pleased to have company in spreading interminable war in the mid east which (he thinks) is to his advantage? Without a doubt. Should the neo cons in the Pentagon and elsewhere in the regime all be sacked for questionable motives? Yes. But the entire administration should be sacked and put on trial.

The dubious and misguided role of the Congress in all of this is the primary problem. What is their excuse for funding this folly? They knew that is was what the WASP big capital establishment wanted. There's money it in it for them. Open the treasury flood gates. Open the campaign coffers. Dismantle the liberal democratic regulatory state while everyone is distracted by a futile war.

6. O-I-L!
That is the motivation behind this, and that is why nothing will be accomplished.

Not Israel, oil.
