repeating Friday, October 24 at 10pm ET

Who will be targeted next and why? The UN headquarters in Iraq. The World Trade Centre in New York. A public bus in Jerusalem. A popular tourist site in Bombay. These are just a few of the sites targeted by an ever-growing number of suicide bombers, human weapons who are striking with an increasing and frightening frequency. THE PASSIONATE EYE, with Michaelle Jean, presents In The Name Of God: Scenes From The Extreme - a rare glimpse into extreme fundamentalist communities that are breeding this form of terror and the convictions behind them.

In The Name of God takes us inside extreme fundamentalist communities in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Lebanon and Palestine, communities where western secular men and women rarely set foot. It illustrates how suicide bombers known as "Shaheeds" are regarded as home town heroes following their deaths, and how school children are being indoctrinated with hatred in their classrooms.

The documentary includes:

Graphic scenes from the festival of "Ashura", in which some believers, including young boys, commemorate the sacrifice of the "martyr" Imam Hussein by participating in a "blood-letting" process.

A school for girls, in which they are taught that as women they are expected to raise future generations of "martyrs".

The swearing-in ceremony of new "Shaheeds".

Interviews with parents who explain that it would be an honor to sacrifice their sons.

In The Name of God: Scenes From The Exteme traces the connection between acts of terror and a religion of compassion and mercy. While the documentary focuses on the lives of extreme minority factions, it notes that followers of Islam have widely divergent views on the meaning of Jihad and martyrdom.

In The Name of God: Scenes From The Extreme is directedÊÊby Emmy award-winning Israeli filmmaker Dan Setton.

2. Well, as long as they only talk about Muslims

and are careful to avoid any insinuation that any extremeness is engaged in in the name of any other religion, it sounds like a fine asset to the growing body of CrusadeNet orthodoxy.

5. It's not "only" Muslims, but it is some Muslims.

This particular documentary is focusing on Muslim extremists. Christian fundie extremism can have it's own thread, and similarly for Jewish extremists, and another for SubGenius extremists (is there such a thing?) etc.
