Rebel Suspect Kills 3 Police in Manila
MANILA, Philippines (AP) - A detained Islamic rebel suspect
grabbed a guard's rifle early Tuesday and opened fire at police
headquarters in Manila, killing three officers and wounding three
others before he was fatally shot, officials said.

Buyungan Bongkak was one of five suspected Abu Sayyaf rebels
arrested over a bomb attack last year in southern Zamboanga
city, said police spokesman Senior Supt. Leopoldo Bataoil.

The shootings began after Bongkak wrested the rifle from a
policeman and opened fire, Bataoil said.
