U.S. government hits snag printing new $100 bills, prints old ones instead

The U.S. Treasury Department may have been eager to open the doors to its money printing factory back in July to show off its brand new $100 bills, but it looks to be a decidedly different story today. As CNBC reports, all of the added security measures have apparently been harder to print than expected, and have resulted in a creasing problem that has left some bills with a blank portion on the face. The real problem, however, is that it's not clear how many bills have the flaw, which has forced the department to "quarantine" some 1.1 billion bills until they can be sorted -- one person familiar with the matter says as many as 30 percent were affected at the height of the problem. As you might expect, that accounts for a pretty big chunk of the bills intended for circulation, which has forced the fed to print some more of the older $100 bills that still feature Bush Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson's signature in the meantime.

Something smells awful Fishy in this story, how could tons of money get past inspectors if not some sort of scam was not going on! I am one that believes a Coup was started in 2000 and this would fit in nicely.

In 2001 they opened a new printing office in Fort Worth Texas and somehow between now and then they screwed up printing tons of new bills. Now comes the fun part, what if you had pallets of old hundred dollar bills and you needed new bills with all the bells and whistles and owned a printing press or at least excess to the bills printed.

Now comes the old Switch-a-roo, you say many bills are no good and will need to be burned. Now for the scam, they print new money that has Bush Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson's signature on them in meantime, You swap the old bills for new bills and burn the old bills instead of new bills swapping all the bills out for crisp new bills that have all the bells and whistles.

Helicopters of Iraq food for Oil money was dropped in Iraq that disappeared just as fast without any accountability, not a shred of paper work? Laundering money with a Texas size Printing Press?

They need to put a 24 guard on that money at all ends, not people connected with Texas, Wars, Oil or Politics that will be hard to find in Texas!

I love a Good Conspiracy, Pallets of Missing money needed a few conspirators. Wow, having your own printing press, those Texans sure think big.

1. As we've known in the printing trade for years, and as the Mafia will attest. . .
"The best way to make money is to make money."

2. Forklifts
They were used to load pallets of bills onto the transport jets bound for Iraq. I am sure they used forklifts to unload them as well. Not sure if forklifts were used when they handed out the money - maybe just for certain people.

3. Agreed & Well Said
as someone who operates a forklift, I am certain that they were involved in this process. Now it may be that they used electric or propane pallet jacks as opposed to a true forklift but I am sure that something of this nature was in the mix.

5. How the US sent $12bn in cash to Iraq. And watched it vanish

The US flew nearly $12bn in shrink-wrapped $100 bills into Iraq, then distributed the cash with no proper control over who was receiving it and how it was being spent.
The staggering scale of the biggest transfer of cash in the history of the Federal Reserve has been graphically laid bare by a US congressional committee.

In the year after the invasion of Iraq in 2003 nearly 281 million notes, weighing 363 tonnes, were sent from New York to Baghdad for disbursement to Iraqi ministries and US contractors. Using C-130 planes, the deliveries took place once or twice a month with the biggest of $2,401,600,000 on June 22 2004, six days before the handover

How in the Hell do you just drop off $12B in cash and loose track of it? Not even a serial number? Just a tad Fishy?
