Group: Brunswick (ME) naval base suited for renewable energy

BRUNSWICK — The group devising a reuse plan for the Brunswick Naval Air Station said Tuesday that it plans to pursue renewable-energy facilities for the base, including a power plant and research capabilities.

Members of Brunswick's Local Redevelopment Authority explored the concept Tuesday night by hosting an energy forum that featured a panel of state and national experts.

Experts agreed that Brunswick could one day accommodate a green energy park.

"I think the base can become a world-class living laboratory for renewable energy technologies," said Suzanne Watson who moderated the forum at Brunswick High School.
