Hilarious Hyperbolic FUD in UK anti-wind leafleting campaign.
Man, this is bad:

Snaith resident Joan Johnson said: "When I got the REACT and CATS leaflets they scared me half to death.

"I'm an elderly lady and reading that the wind farm would produce noise equivalent to 15 helicopters flying overhead, day and night, really worried me. The leaflets also said that the turbines would slaughter wildlife and my TV wouldn't work."

1. Projection
Members of FACTS have reacted with particular outrage to the claim that their group is an invention of the developer, E.ON. One REACT leaflet states "they have been invented by E.ON to create the illusion that people support their scheme. The website and literature is all generated by E.ON – do not be fooled"

What do you bet that REACT is an invention of the coal/oil industry. That would seem more likely to me.

3. Yeah.
I would bet money on that, for sure.

(I'm psyched actually, that this "projection" meme is catching on. I've thought in those terms for a while now and it's good to see folks jumping right for the throat of our seemingly endless supply of hypocrits. It's mind-boggling that these assclowns would "tip their hat" so easily, but I guess it has worked for their stripe up to now. No more.)

2. I've seen this topic before on DU. Don't be surprised if a lot of DUers..
end up being anti-wind farms as well. Its a multi-faceted issue.

4. "noise equivalent to 15 helicopters..."
I assume they're refering to the silent black-ops helicopters we all know about...

:tinfoilhat:

Hang on though.... CATS? Weren't they the guys who said "All your base are belong to us"?

Someone set us up the leaflet!

5. The turbine manufacturer should sue them for slander and libel.

I stood directly underneath a turbine during a field trip once. An anemometer measured the wind at 22-23 miles per hour, and the turbine made barely any noise. When we left and the bus driver turned on his engine, you couldn't hear the wind turbine from inside the bus.
