Mitsubishi Electric, MMNA debut solar-powered EV charging station

Mitsubishi Electric & Electronics (Mitsubishi Electric) and Mitsubishi Motors North America (MMNA) have jointly debuted a solar-powered charging station for electric vehicles (Evs) at the MMNA headquarters in Cypress, California.

The new charging station is able to charge up to four vehicles at once using 96, 175W PV modules from Mitsubishi Electric.

The company anticipates that the debut of the charging station will help prepare Mitsubishi dealers and consumers for the November release of the CHAdeMO compatible electric vehicle, the Mitsubishi i.

The company said that the standard level 1, 110v charge delivers a 100% charge in 22 hours on the Mitsubishi i, level 2 at 220v charges the vehicle in six hours and the level 3 CHAdeMO Quick Charger offers an 80% battery capacity charge in 25 minutes.
