What’s all the fracking fuss about? It’s a hot topic right now to be sure, but in the end it’s only a word.

But which word is it?

As gas industry engineers and scientists butt heads with environmental groups and concerned communities over the benefits and perceived hazards of hydraulic fracturing, another debate rages on a more low-tech level.

What is the process of extracting natural gas from deep shale formations supposed to be called in its condensed version? Is it fracing or fracking? How about fraccing? Frac, frac-out and frac job also have been bandied about.

Fracking seems to be the short choice...

I vote for "fracking" because it is just so fracking appropriate (thank you Scifi channel).
