Fourteen killed in Texas refinery blast.
"TEXAS CITY, Texas - A thunderous explosion tore through a BP oil refinery Wednesday, shooting flames and billowing smoke into the sky and showering the area with ash and chunks of charred metal. At least 14 were believed dead and more than 100 were injured.

The cause of the explosion was not immediately known.

Workers searched through rubble for survivors or bodies into Wednesday night, several hours after the 1:20 p.m. blast. An undetermined number of workers were unaccounted for; most of the injured suffered broken bones, cuts, concussions and other injuries..."

Nothing to see here folks, move right along.

Forget about it, discussing it further would dilute our opportunity to discuss Chernobyl, which is still far more sexy than a grease fire after almost 20 years.

2. This was an uninteresting topic.
I guess dead people only count if radioactivity is involved.

Man, if 14 people had died in a nuclear power plant, it would bump even Terri Schiavo off the front page, for years I bet.

3. Actually the body count is up to 15
On CBS Evening news this story immediately followed the Schiavo mess. Knowing that the same plant has hosted another deadly accident within the last year and learning that it had incurred another $170,000 in fines for 14 safety violations since, I wondered out loud why the "culture of life" whack jobs weren't screaming to protect the lives of the workers. I guess if it were to affect profits margins, life just doesn't matter that much.
