Last I heard about it, construction was to begin in 2009 - um, let's see, when would that be? - and it was going to come on line "by 2011."

I checked the Excel Energy Website. Not a word about it. Zilch. Zero. Nada. Nothing.

Oh wait. There's some talk of a possible demonstration project someday, in um, Boulder, Colorado. So that can't be it, can it?

The only information I have about it is a wonderful insightful post here from some years back, "all full of sound and glory..." as Willie said in another context of a tale told by an idiot.

So given that construction is to begin in 2009 for the $200M wind to hydrogen project, one wonders where it is.

Shouldn't they be building filling stations, too, for all the hydrogen HYPErcars?

1. They'll build it on Mars. Right after we get there.

3. Isn't hydrogen explosive and highly reactive?
Even moreso than octane?

Imagine a collision with a hydrogen-powered vehicle, assuming it stores hydrogen on-board. Can you say "Hindenburg"?

Hydrogen is not safe. That's why we now fill balloons with helium, instead.

Doesn't sound like a good idea to me.

4. Wrong again - crash tests with hydrogen vehicles clearly indicate they are SAFER than gasoline cars
Or maybe the Earth sucks it all up - just like electricity

5. Hydrogen IS explosive and highly reactive.
That's just a fact. Of course, hydrogen-powered vehicles may still be safer than gasoline powered vehicles. I am open to that possibility..

Do you have a link, snark-master?
