The Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy is desperately trying to save 6 acres of wilderness in the Laurel Canyon section of Los Angeles.

SMCC needs $145,000 by August 17, 2009, to purchase these 6 acres, which are otherwise slated for
immediate development.

I realize Los Angeles may not be your home; but these 6 acres contain many native Oak trees and native shrubs, and they are home to quite a bit of wildlife.

One species of bird that inhabits the area, and which depends on the Oak trees, is the Oak Titmouse.
