2. it's the unions and the high wages they demand

if toyota were free to offer employees, say, a buck a week like they get in some of them 3rd world countries where people aren't lazy and spoiled like murkans, than toyota could control their costs and bring down the costs of their cars so that someone or other would buy them.

3. if it was as consistent a pattern as the failures of the major American manufacturers,

it might well be at least partly due to poor management.
