| 3. I was angry at the Bear Stearns bailout but realize why |

they did it. On the other hand, Fannie and Freddie are OURS and deserve to be saved. Those two institutions are the sole reason our parents were able to own their homes and why some of us will eventually own ours when the mortgage is paid off.
Fannie and Freddie need to be nationalized, though. Any company that gets a bailout should be nationalized and the thieves rooted out, stripped of all their ill gotten gains.

The reason they broke up the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Agency, or was it Department, was to balance the Federal budget back in 1970. The Viet Nam war was getting expensive. All that mortgage debt on the Federal ledger had to disappear. So they got a new credit card and a new war and now it's OK to put it back on. Trust us, we're from the government and we're here to help. Will we ever learn?
