Has anyone invested in Euro's?
I've been contemplating putting some of our money into foreign currency to protect against the exchange rate drop, but short of offshore baks in the Cayman Islands, I can't find a bank that provides this service except for Ever Bank, which seems to get bad customer service ratings.

2. Yes, via the FX markets
Beware, they're not for the faint of heart, and they only trade in blocks of $10k, though margin requirements are only 1%. I use think-or-swim as my broker, they have excellent service.

I have an outstanding position in the Euro (and have since it was $1.3X), and will likely keep it until the Euro hits $2.

3. Warren Buffet.
The idea is "buy low, sell high." You're too late.

4. yes
I'm 7% CD's, with the balance in equity mutual funds (40%) and bond mutual funds (60%). Of all the equity and bond mutual funds, 35% are in US Dollar funds, and 65% are in non-Dollar (Euros, Austr and Can $, Yen, Pounds, etc).

5. Wha ??
It's all I can do to afford gas, diapers and groceries....after that, there isn't much left for anything else.

I'm new to this site, I thought most people(Other Democrats) were in the same boat I'm in. No offense intended, but are most people here rich enough to afford these type investments?

6. Naw, just the ones who post about investments
I usually invest in commodities -- such as rice, beans, flour and canned soup. Sometimes some chicken....

7. Welcome to DU.
It is a pretty diverse group. From one end of the financial spectrum to the other.
"are most people here rich enough to afford these type investments? "
Most are kind, decent hardworking people. The ones that aren't working are still decent and hard at something, from retirement age to college, from ready to retire comfortably to barely scraping by or merely coping. Many are investors in one way or another. Many are not.

9. Thank you for the greetings
and thank you for the replies.
I was hoping to find like minded people who don't look down their nose when they discuss politics and current events. One day, maybe more of us can afford to invest our money in something beyond survival.

Sorry for the hi-jack.

BB
