Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Furnishes Housing & Help to Homeless - We need lots more of this!!!

Right now Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation offer this help in the U.S. but concentrates it mainly in the Pacific Northwest - It is a very good thing but it needs to expand to the entire U.S.! We are seeing thousands of families here in Florida going homeless with nowhere to go!

From the Gates Foundation Site:

http://www.gatesfoundation.org/default.htm

Opening Doors of Opportunity for Everyone (as long as you live in the Pacific Northwest) -

In communities across the U.S., inequities in our society limit optionsespecially for those with few resources.

The doors of opportunity quickly close for:

* The millions of students who drop out early or graduate from high school unprepared for college, career, and life

* Any young person or adult without access to the information we take for granted through computers and the Internet

* Children and families in the Pacific Northwest with unmet basic needs and few connections to get help

Everyone deserves an equal chance to get the skills, tools, and knowledge needed to participate more fully in life. The foundations United States Program seeks to work with many public and private partners to reduce inequities by expanding opportunities for those with great need.

.................

This is what our government should be doing! The CEO's and the Halliburton's etc. that have made the billions on the war should be helping our needy now along with the Gates Foundation!

1. The pennies they gave here are offset by millions that went to India to educate the competition.

2. I hear you! Why do the "rock stars" in the U.S. give so much overseas & forget us here????
I give a lot of credit to Angelina Jolee and Brad Pitt for helping out New Orleans:

http://www.eonline.com/news/article/index.jsp?uuid=3e6b...

Pitt has already teamed up with nonprofit organization Global Green USA to jointly commission 20 eco-friendly homes in low-income neighborhoods that were hardest hit by the storm. Construction on the buildings is expected to begin this month.

.........

We need a heck of lot more of this! One of the worst things the Bush Admin has done in the country in the last 8 years is forget about the elderly and disabled housing! We have so little of it here in Florida!
