Qwest warns managers they may have different work in case of strike

DENVER (AP) - Qwest Communications International is warning managers they may have to take on the jobs of union employees -- if workers strike later this year.

Denver-based Qwest told its 16,000 managers Friday that they won't be allowed time off in late August if a contract has not been reached.

The contract with the Communications Workers of America District Seven expires at midnight August 13. Talks are scheduled to begin June 22.

A Qwest spokesman says the company doesn't necessarily expect a strike. He says the preparations were standard operating procedure.
Communications Workers of America has about 25,000 members employed by Qwest.

1. You can always tell what work was done during a strike

as usually its sloppy, and not properly done. The axiom for management at the telcos I've been around has been "If you can't do the work, they make you management".

Just hope they don't work on anything that affects me!!! :-)
