Current account deficit 2004 -- $665.9 billion
The 2004 figures are in. You would like to think that the developments in the rapid collapse of American industry would get higher billing on the msnbc homepage than Scott Peterson.

"WASHINGTON - The United States deficit in the broadest measure of international trade soared to an all-time high of $665.9 billion in 2004, showing in stark terms the speed with which the country is becoming indebted to the rest of the world.

The Commerce Department reported Wednesday that the shortfall in the current account was 25.5 percent higher than the previous record, the $530.7 billion deficit set in 2003."

3. It's just unbelievable
they are destroying the US and risking a world wide economic collapse.

Yet, even on DU, "Scott Peterson" is allowed in breaking news
with tons of comments.

It's like the American people are hypnotized to ignore anything
with money.

I cannot understand why Americans aren't in the streets protesting
and demanding our representatives act in the national interest...
with what's going on here and instead we have people voting for
the very people who are bringing about the destruction of the US.
