Unions Merge
The Steelworkers and PACE have decided to merge into what will be the largest industrial union in the country, dedicating $30 million a year to organizing. This bodes well for working people struggling to get by as corporations increase their power in the market and government.

1. Seems like a logical plan for getting stronger
so many corporate mergers

2. Not as optimistic as you may think.
It seems to me to be two drowning sailors trying to hang onto the same piece of driftwood.

Nothing will help the unions or union workers until (1) the unions start talking tough politically and (2) there's a Democratic candidate who speaks up for working people. As a Union worker in a right-to-work state, I ain't gonna hold my breath for either one.

3. They should look to Europe for models
In Finland pretty much every Finn is a member of the union,
including managers pretty much all the way up to the executive
level.

When your entire population is a member of a union...

well, that one pulls some clout.

I personally feel Finland is "too" socialist for US culture,

but taking some cues from these countries is in order to have
any sort of society versus a population of the "Serfs" and
the "super elite"....which the US did have pretty much until the new deal (1934).
