Coca-Cola nose-dives on sluggish sales
Atlanta - Shares of Coca-Cola fell 9.9 percent on Friday, the biggest drop since October 2002, after sales growth slowed last quarter at the soft drink maker and it said expenses would rise in the second half.

Coca-Cola's global volume of beverages sold climbed 1 percent, way short of its goal of a 5 percent yearly gain.

New chief executive Neville Isdell is trying to improve annual average sales growth of 2.3 percent the past five years.

1. Maybe
they need to use the Real Thing again as one of their secret ingredients?

4. Are you kidding?
Wow, I don't see how anyone could not love them. I see why you SHOULDN'T drink them, but not how someone could not like them.

5. Not kidding.
It is true in my younger days I would drink Colas, but
I really can't get one down now.

3. Probably my fault. I had to give up cokes last month
With the number I drank a day, it could have seriously influenced their numbers...

Damn tough addiction, too. I want one right now. I've wanted one every second since I drank my last one. Sigh. Maybe I should take up cigarettes.

7. Joby~
I gave up regular cokes about 2 months ago.

When I read the article I thought maybe it was ME effecting their numbers.

Coke is like Ambrosia, nothing tastes better IMHO. I still indulge in moderation on the weekend.

6. What a pity.
I really look forward to the day when a health-consious world stops drinking Coca-Cola.

8. "Expenses" = inflation
Edited on Tue Jul-27-04 04:34 PM by DanSpillane
It is starting to hit many companies.

The "low inflation" myth is slipping away

But I also wonder if abroad, American brands like Coke are being rejected....? Iraq, lies, and all????

9. Oil..
Think of every large truck lugging around millions of cans of heavy sugar water to every little store in the USA. In some places I would imagine Coke being cheaper per gallon then the gas used to move it around.

I am a Safeway Select Cola man.
