"If Bush Wins There will be a war in the Republican party.." B. Bartlelett
I have not read the whole article. But I loved the beginning.

http://www.nytimes.com/2004/10/17/magazine/17BUSH.html

Bruce Bartlett, a domestic policy adviser to Ronald Reagan and a treasury official for the first President Bush, told me recently that ''if Bush wins, there will be a civil war in the Republican Party starting on Nov. 3.'' The nature of that conflict, as Bartlett sees it? Essentially, the same as the one raging across much of the world: a battle between modernists and fundamentalists, pragmatists and true believers, reason and religion.
''Just in the past few months,'' Bartlett said, ''I think a light has gone off for people who've spent time up close to Bush: that this instinct he's always talking about is this sort of weird, Messianic idea of what he thinks God has told him to do.'' Bartlett, a 53-year-old columnist and self-described libertarian Republican who has lately been a champion for traditional Republicans concerned about Bush's governance, went on to say: ''This is why George W. Bush is so clear-eyed about Al Qaeda and the Islamic fundamentalist enemy. He believes you have to kill them all. They can't be persuaded, that they're extremists, driven by a dark vision. He understands them, because he's just like them. . . .

1. I printed it from Kos. 16 pages to be exact, but well worth the ink.

3. Dont give up on Keyes yet...there is still a chance he can win.
You just have to have a little faith in miracles.

After wards there are other states where he can get on legislative ballots. A man with a mission - I see a Hallmark made-for-tv movie here.
We just have to have hope.

5. I heard Pat Buchanan say the same thing on Fresh Air.
a couple of weeks back. Actually Pat said that if the Chimp loses, there will be a civil war within the Republican party. It looks as if the NeoCon idealiats are about to have a day of reckoning with the real Conservatives.

As Ernst Rhoem once said, " every revolution devours its own childern".
I fondly hope to say " stick a fork in them, they're done "

6. MOTHER'S PRAYER
MOTHER'S PRAYER

My brother stands before me
ready to kill.
To embrace the stab of hate
and be killed
or dismount his proud head.
In a fix I press the button.

The bloodhounds set free
upon the children of one mother
who shared bread
and broth in one kitchen,
basked in the fire of the same hearth,
slept under the same roof
and played hide-and-seek.

How to retrace from the precipice,
avert the headlong fall.

Mother is lacerated by each wound
her children inflict upon one another,
The irreparable loss is hers,
the tragedy of her sturdy youth is hers.
For never shall it be the same again.

Every mother prays for
long life of her sons,
their well-being,
their blossoming,
wants peace to sing
her anthem of creation.
Every mother wants this;
yes, every mother.

She wants peace,
for sure, peace,
no war, not even a scuffle.

Spreading her cloth, she wails:
come my children, come home,
there are forces who will not let us live,
they have planted bombs
all over my bosom.

Throw away this forty-seven,
spare your mother's womb.
I can bear the shock of explosion
but not another forty-seven.

Let mother show the way
when mankind strays away.

7. HOLOCAUST REHEARSALS
HOLOCAUST REHEARSALS

Daggers at our neck,
cannons at our back,
rockets on our head,
how long do we go on
with our holocaust rehearsals?

How long can we sleep
in doomsday dread,
in balance of terror,
in MAD syndrome?

This self-deception,
this dope dream,
how long shall it last?

Where are we heading?
Does anyone know
the direction and the flow?

On what precipice bending?
Doesn’t the flow portend
the tragic, fated end of all
that in centuries fruitioned;
a sudden annihilation?

Are we going to begin again,
have we come full circle,
is this the end of all endings,
the point whence we set out in primal times?

Peace love and well-being of all,
the goals our ancients cherished
went about spreading the message
in every corner of the world.

But could not persuade
those puffed with powered greed
the consequences of clashes
can spell a permanent nuclear doom.

8. This reminds me of The Guns of August by Barbara Tuchman
All the assumptions of the well educated, socially advanced leadership as to the ability of governtments to manage and controll war - so proven wrong by the mayhem destruction that followed.

It makes you wonder about our species.
