Daily U.S. Casualties 8/14/2004

As of Friday, 930 U.S. service members have died since the beginning of military operations in Iraq in March 2003, according to the Defense Department. Of those, 692 died as a result of hostile action and 238 died of nonhostile causes.

The British military has reported 63 deaths; Italy, 18; Spain, eight; Poland, seven; Bulgaria, six; Ukraine, four; Slovakia, three; Thailand, two; and Denmark, El Salvador, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia and the Netherlands have reported one death each.

Since May 1, 2003, when President Bush declared that major combat operations in Iraq had ended, 792 U.S. soldiers have died -- 583 as a result of hostile action and 209 of nonhostile causes, according to the Defense Department.

There were no new deaths or identifications reported by U.S. Central Command.
