Daily U.S. Casualties 7/13/2004 -- There is a discrepancy in the numbers
Daily U.S. Casualties 7/13/2004

As of Monday, 876 U.S. service members have died since the beginning of military operations in Iraq in March 2003, according to the Defense Department. Of those, 651 died as a result of hostile action and 225 died of nonhostile causes.

On Friday, the Defense Department had reported 875 service member deaths.

It reported no update Saturday or Sunday, but the military reported seven weekend deaths. There was no explanation for the discrepancy.

The British military has reported 59 deaths; Italy, 18; Spain, eight; Bulgaria and Poland, six each; Ukraine, four; Slovakia, three; Thailand, two; and Denmark, El Salvador, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia and the Netherlands have reported one death each.

Since May 1, 2003, when President Bush declared that major combat operations in Iraq had ended, 738 U.S. soldiers have died -- 542 as a result of hostile action and 196 of nonhostile causes, the military reported.

There were no new deaths reported and no new identifications Monday.

1. I thought I heard somewhere there was 1000 US deaths?
Is that with the total during the "war".....?

wish I could remember were I heard that...hell, maybe it was just another bad dream added to this nightmare.

Is there any website with the changing/running total? Maybe we should have it on the homepage here...damn...its all so pointless.
