McCain says Palin to play leadership role as ex-Governor
By Steve Holland

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Republican Senator John McCain expressed support for his former presidential running mate, Sarah Palin, on Saturday as Washington speculated about why the Alaska governor abruptly announced her resignation.

McCain made the comment a day after Palin stunned the political world by announcing she is stepping down with 18 months left in her term.

McCain had plucked Palin from obscurity to make her his vice presidential running mate in last year's presidential campaign, won by Democrat Barack Obama.

"I have the greatest respect and affection for Sarah, Todd, and their family. I was deeply honored to have her as my running mate and believe she will continue to play an important leadership role in the Republican Party and our nation," McCain said in a statement e-mailed to Reuters ...

The Republicans have realized that they need someone to "rally the base" and go on the
attack against Obama.

So far, the oppo voices have been pretty lame, and the ones that are crowing the loudest have
zero credibility any more. Obama's cool-handed approach makes the LimbHannity crowd look like
a bunch of blistering fools.

The Republicans realized that it's a long time before the next election. They needed a 'face'
out in front--ripping into healthcare, the state of the economy, and other issues. And they
needed it to be someone who could attract some major media attention.

Newt Gingrich or Lindsey Graham just wasn't going to cut it.

I'm sure they've promised her "big things" if she does this--much the same way that McCain was made promises
if agreed to campaign along side W.

9. Guranteed she'll be all over Fox and the rest talking trash and getting soooooo much attention.
And because she is no longer a "politician" it will be stupid for Obama or anyone to respond.

7. Why would McCain enable this trollup?
I don't get it.

McCain knows better than anyone what an ignorant, foolhardy ditz she is.

Why is he doing this?
