Why does our media ignore fact that these folks are the official Iraq Gov for the next 2 years? - it is not an "until elections in January" group - the elections in January only elect folks to write a new consitution - and do not elect a new administration?

U.S. Welcomes Creation of New Iraq Gov't

Tuesday June 1, 2004 4:16 PM By PETE YOST WASHINGTON (AP) - The Bush administration on Tuesday welcomed the formation of a new Iraqi interim government and suggested it would help ease the way for winning support for a U.N. resolution seeking to set the stage for stability in Iraq.

``Today's announcement is a positive step for the future of a free Iraq,'' national security adviser Condoleezza Rice told reporters at the White House. ``These are not America's puppets.''

Secretary of State Colin Powell said the administration will now hold discussions with the leaders of the interim government on its relationship with the U.S.-led military coalition.

Meanwhile, he said, the U.N. Security Council will move ahead on a new resolution on Iraq, taking proposed revisions to a joint U.S.-British draft into account, Powell said. ``It is a good day for the Iraqi people,'' he told reporters at the State Department.

Of the makeup of the new government, Rice said, ``I can tell you firmly and without any contradiction, this is a terrific list and really good government and we're very pleased with the names that emerged.'' <snip>

COMMENT: Why does our media ignore fact that these folks are the official Iraq Gov for the next 2 years? - it is not an "until elections in January" group - the elections in January only elect folks to write a new consitution - and -at this point - do not elect a new administration. So the corruption of bribes to relatives for gov contracts has been put in these folks power - and they have shown they are very good at it - the PM Allawi is famous for demanding bribes - and when caught he just says that his relative was acting as a western style broker - not his problem - and the US media drops the topic. I do love our not right wing GOP controlled US media - they just act like they are.
