Air America's "regular broadcast hours"?
The Internet stream, for the first time today, gave me "Please tune back during regular broadcast hours" at 9:16 AM Eastern time.

This suggests two things. The more unfortunate is that Air America may be underfunded and unable to take care of technical details. They ARE running a lot of public service announcements, which make them no money.

The other might be more positive; perhaps the Real Audio servers are clogged with all the people that want to tune in. (Which is why I wasn't sanguine about them using Real Audio, instead of the free Winamp Shoutcast broadcasts or Apple's iTunes system.)

1. They're having technical problems with the streaming
from their site.

If you want to listen, try this page

I've been listening to the WLIB stream all morning.

2. I'm a pessimist
I must be honest here: Air America simply isn't getting advertisers. The one time I listened to it, not a single commercial; just PSAs. If they don't find a way to market themselves soon, it's back to Pacifica or bust.

And for talk radio standards, that's not healthy.

5. If you are listening on the web
you won't hear the commercials. Legal reasons.

7. They are national.
Local commercials cannot be broadcast nationally.

10. I heard maybe a minute of silence then. Still a problem
The local wingnut here in Gainesville gets about 7 per half hour. We pull one, maybe 1.5?

13. Try liquidcompass link here
http://www.620knews.com/listen/index.php

You'll get the silence during commercials, but ...

Supposedly they're back up (at least some time today) here in Chicago. :bounce:

The local media stations are still reporting the bounced check line; at least they've added a final followup subscript note to the 'news' story that the Judge decided AA paid and must be reinstated on the air.
