May 5 Vanity Fair - "The Path to War" - Powell's revenge begins?

May 5, 2004 Vanity Fair "The Path to War" (p. 228 of the one with Jackie Kennedy on the cover) reads like a storyboard for what may be coming from Bob Woodward's book (and 60 Minutes appearance (same extended length as Clarke, April 18 I believe)). Powell as the only sane man snared unwillingly into goondom by a bunch of filthy one-dimensional semi-robotic scary hoodlums in business suits. A sad story.

Anyway, a highly readable inside account of the origins of this mess, though I believe most here have a pretty good picture of how all this garbage went down.

And the article is also a possible foreshadowing for a huge administration damn-burst: senior officials coming out of the woodwork to tell the truth about what these pigs have been up to. Sad confessions and short trips to Langley Correctional Facility.

reading the april ed. Macbush, based on Macbeth, also a good story on the fall of Conrad Black. I'll be picking up the new one asap. Charlie Rose did a show i think it was Thursday that had the writers of that article on.
