Hometown Embarrassment
I grew up around Winchester, VA. Every now and then I like to read the hometown newspaper, The Winchester Star.

The paper is published by Thomas Byrd, yes of THAT Byrd family.

Usually the paper opts for very right-of-center op-eds and "commentaries" which are essentially the letters to the editor that the editorial staff is willing to allot more space to and implicitly endorse. Today's most recent piece of garbage published by the Star, however, was even more disgusting than usual:

http://www.winchesterstar.com/pages/view/crossroads.html

My personal favorite snippet:

"First came a law of “separation of church and state,” not a legal constitutional change formed by two-thirds of the members of Congress and ratified by three-fourths of the states, but written by the ACLU, an organization formed by the Communist Party of the United States, and passed on to Justice Hugo Black and four other justices and then placed into the Constitution by the Supreme Court.

The ACLU’s constant pursuit of removing the Bible and its morals (The Ten Commandments) from ever being quoted or printed anywhere in the public square or, more particularly, in our schools, removed any teaching or preaching of true morals or of “truth” itself. Everything became relative; our morals became “political correctedness.” Those morals would then be determined by the “intellectuals” themselves. So anything goes, as long as they’re allowed to determine all that is said or done."

See if you can read the rest without throwing up, a la “The Tale of Scrotie McBoogerballs” episode on South Park last week. It's that shockingly ignorant.

We hear all the time about the "liberal" MSM elite (even though most of us is recognize this is a trumped up lie/exaggeration.) But how many small town newspapers out there continue to recycle and repackage Glenn Beck-style shit in a different box?
