One observation: it looks like the latest BushSpin regarding his numerous lies (conveniently boiled down by the sheeplike media to the 16 word passage in his SOTU address) is that the information was "factually correct," in the sense that he prefaced his lie with "The British government has learned..."

The pundits and lapdogs of the right seem to be hard-coding this into their brains, while the so-called free press is as likely as not to allow this justification to carry water--or carry said "journalists" to wherever the scotch is flowing.

Hmmn. This made me think of how others in the past could have likely avoided similar embarrassment...I've come up with the following:

Richard Nixon: The British government has learned I am not a crook.

Al Haig: The British government has learned that I am in control here.

Ronald Reagan: The British government has learned we do not negotiate with terrorists.

George H. W. Bush: The British government has learned there was no quid pro quo.

George H. W. Bush: The British government has learned that I was out of the loop (regarding Iran/Contra).

William Westmoreland and/or Robert McNamara: The British government has learned that we've rounded the corner (in Vietnam) and that we can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Mohammed Saheed Al-Sahaf: The British government has learned that there are no American Troops in Baghdad.

Donald Rumsfeld: The British government has learned that we know where the weapons are. They are in the areas around Baghdad, around Tikrit, and to the north, south, east and west.

OJ Simpson: The British government has learned that I did not kill my wife (and Ron Goldman)...
