NPR
So, I'm cooking dinner and hear the blurb for "On Point" which asks,
"are employees bring down corporations?"

WTF? That question is a complete right-wing frame. The program is going to talk about United Airlines, etc.....

but that "teaser" is unforgivable. Yeah right, employees are destroying the world. They must be "liberals." FUNPR.

Back to cooking ... (maybe I'll listen to the Weiner.. what's the difference?)

1. I've noticed lately that either I've been moving to the left or NPR
has been moving to the right. The Bush love-fest coverage from the Republic of Georgia was regular state propaganda.

I think that this adminstration is trying to either co-opt PBS or destroy it. Doesn't matter to them which.

2. Maybe we should Channel Mrs. Jean Kroc
and get the millions back that she gave NPR now that they decided to join the unfair and unbalanced of the media world.

3. Well, truthfully...
... how much labor news does one hear on any news media these days?

NPR/PBS/CPB has danced around "sensitive issues" like this one ever since they started taking corporate money and started trying to push themselves into the mainstream.

When they brought on Juan Williams to throw softballs to administration figures, I knew their moral collapse was complete.... :grr:

4. Have they already passed that part of the program?
I might have to catch the replay. Here's a run-down of the program.

I'm listening to "The Infinite Mind" (show is about ASPERGER'S SYNDROME).

Pension Meltdown
Aired: Friday, May 13, 2005 7-8PM ET

A Chicago bankruptcy court ruled this week that United Airlines can default on its pension plans that cover more than 120,000 employees. This is a big win for the troubled airline which may help it keep its planes in the air. But for those who work for United it could mean big benefit cuts and a much less comfortable retirement.

United isn't the only airline in trouble. It's following in the footsteps of US Airways, and Delta is hinting it may be going down the same path. Soon, America's big car makers may also be looking for pension relief.

Hear a discussion on the future of pension plans in corporate America.

Guests

· Nannette Byrne, senior writer for BusinessWeek
· Richard Brownlee, professor at the Darden School of Business
Administration at the University of Virginia, expert on
corporate pension and employee stock ownership plans
· Robert Mann, president of R.W. Mann & Company, an independent
airline industry analysis and consulting firm
· Tom Gigot, attorney at the Groom Law Group where he represents
employers in negotiations with the Pension Benefit Guaranty
Corporation, adjunct professor at Georgetown University's Law
School
· Terry O'Rourke, 51-year-old electronics technician for United
Airlines and member of the American Machinists Fraternal
Association.
· Jack Beatty, On Point analyst and senior editor at the
Atlantic Monthly.

6. That is kind of bad for a Boston radio show
I thought Boston was more liberal than that, but hey, it ain't San Francisco.

7. Thanks for the replies.
Like I said, I was cooking and had no desire to listen to the program. According to Up2Late's synopsis, that program was probably worse than the promotion. BushCo is going to make sure that these "liberals" at NPR will be reigned in. Hey, welcome to State Radio -- as different, but the same as, Hate Radio
