Tim Russert: It's a Tax Raise! Tax Raise Tax Raise!
Edited on Sun Feb-27-05 05:13 PM by indianablue
Thats how Tim Russert acted when Joe Biden mentioned raising the ceiling on SS taxes. Tim Russert acted like someone killed his child in front of him.

what a GOP Pig are there kneepads big enough for these jerks.

I think SS taxes go all the way through the to all wages/salaries no matter how well they get paid.

**It's a Tax Raise, Its a Tax Raise!**

Geez I think these guys would rather have billions of people die before they would sing on to a tax raise in my opinion tax restoration.

3. why should poor people pay a larger percentage on SS taxes
than rich?
If you make 90,000$ a year, then you pay 6.2% of all your income on SS.
If you make 180,000$, you pay 3.1%, and so on and so on.

The cap should be raised to 250,000$, which would ensure SS for well over 100 years.
The capital gains tax should be raised, as well as closing corporate loopholes---which enable some of the wealthiest businesses to barely pay any tax while small businesses pay an unfair share of the burden.

6. It's insurance. Rich people pay a lower percentage on car insurance, too.
Even though they have, on average, more expensive cars, they pay a lower percentage of their income on car insurance. OASDI benefits are "capped," too. They're indexed against the same wage base as defines the salary cap. Approrimately 90% of wage-earners earn less than the OASDI salary cap and less than 10% earn more.

Far greater 'payroll tax' revenue increases would be obtained if the working class weren't losing their share of the national income. Raise the Federal Minimum Wage.

4. Was it a tax raise in the early Reagan years when both the rate and base
were greatly raised, but higher incomes were wholely excluded from these raises?

10. Joe Biden is a DLC simp.
("Biden is now the anti-Dean, consensus candidate. All of Kerry's former supporters run to Biden; as Lieberman falls his people will move to Biden as well. The DLC stands behind him" http://www.notgeniuses.com/archives/000345.html.

If Biden doesn't know how to properly frame his proposals so a hostile audience can't spin them too much, or doesn't prepare for a public appearance when every loss to the repubes is a death-blow to half the country, he's not fit for his position.

Biden also just gratuitiously made some half-witted declaration about Hillary's chances for sweeping away all serious nominees in the 2008 race. Can't think of a premature subject with greater potential to rip what's left of the dem party into shreds.

He's either: trying to kill his own party on his own motion, is stupid, or is on a murder-suicide mission from the chimp (while wearing sheep's clothing).
