A list of why the Dean campaign is not a campaign, it is a Revolution
Meetups
Blogs
Dean Space
Grid Campaign (Open Campaign with decentralized decision-making)
Flash Rallies

And most important of all, the Dean Revolution is based on building community--more than just selling a candidate and a name. Dean went to community organizing experts and learned and that's what they based their effort on. America hasn't experienced community since people stopped bowling and started watching 7 hours of boob tube a day.

When they do experience a Dean Meetup and actually meet their neighbors, they often start crying as this is such a huge void in modern life. This is bigger than Bush, this is bigger than Dean, this is a Community-Building Revolution and it has the potential to not only beat Bush but maybe take the House back and maybe even the Senate. That's what Dean and trippi are planning to do with their 3 MILLION Volunteers. The previous record for volunteers in a Presidential campaign was a couple of hundred thousand. 3 MILLION means 1 out of every 33 voters will be a DEAN WORKER!!

The Dean campaign is not a campaign, it is a Revolution!

Joe Trippi is going to run circles around Karl Rove, especially when it's $200 million and 200,000 GOP volunteers against $200 million and 3 MILLION Dean Workers.

and you are displaying MASSIVE amounts of Naiveté and wishful thinking. If those papers are clean he better get his dumb ass moving and stop the NEGATIVE momentum his secrecy is generating.

If this guy thinks like you do I wouldn’t let him be dog catcher much less president.

Why, you seem to know them already, and try to bash every one.

Do your own research, honey...

Being a basher is bad enough. Don't be a lazy one...

how patronizing of you - HONEY! My candidates views are a matter of record - many years of public record - many years of enforcing the rights of citizens - no sealed papers. I am definitely not a lazy basher - I've done my research of candidates for decades - do yours and Dean will not be your candidate - mark my words.

6. Precisely why I became a supporter
I knew this was actually bigger than Dean after I caught the buzz about the meet ups and the web organizing. Howard Dean has redefined campaigns. Instead of simply asking people for their money and their vote, he's turned every supporter into an actual campaign worker. He's turned them into organizers, commentators, writers, speakers, and analysts. But the biggest thing he's turned them into, is a huge family. Not a family of personality admiration, as his detractors claim, but one of people pissed off enough and caring enough to actually want their country back.

Even if Dean were to stop right now, what's happening is almost miraculous. The genie is out of the bottle, and this is nothing but good news for many of us who were ready to write this nation off as a failed experiment. Howard Dean is actually proving how creative and resilient democracy is.

Viva!

7. Exactimundo! By restoring the sense of family and belonging, Dean
transcends all previous politics--and I have been a political consultant (22 out of 27 races won) for 19 years now and this is not a campaign it is the Great Transformation or something like that.

That is the reason, Molly, that Dean supporters and all the future Dean Supporters will NEVER care what's in the sealed records or what his stand on taxes is or any of the usual things that negative attacks usually work so well with. It's like your own brother or father was under attack, not a mere candidate.

All the others just try to have a house meeting and SELL you the candidate and manipulate you into volunteering. The Meetups are group therapy, they are the Great American Community finding itself for the first time in 5 decades. It truly is a Revolution and believe you me, mark my words, historians will record this as a turning-point in American history because once this Community comes together, nothing, NOTHING, will ever render it asunder.

DEMS WILL WIN!

Never donated to ANY campaign (before Dean)
Never attended any kind of political event (meetup) until Dean.

It's the same kind of knee-jerk, image-based reactionary style campaign. Support the "cool guy" who's the most pissed off around. Just don't read the details of his platform, because then you'll discover that he's really more of the same. :eyes:

23. Only overstating if the Dean campaign does not grow into
3 million supporters fronm the 550,000 they have right now. Then I might be. But so far it's clearly on track. And he is going to try and win the Congress too Dr. Funk. Gore or Kerry or Dog forbid Gephardt could never do that.

If Dean wins the White House and takes back the House with the Great Transformation even Dr. Funk would believe, no?

27. Revolution implies change. Dean is Wall Street Establishment.
The guy says he's for fiscal prudence. His record shows that he'll balance the budget and cut social spending to do so. Gee. That doesn't sound like a revolution to me. Sounds like the promise of Reaganomics.

It's one of his few concrete plans.

It probably explains why he doesn't have many concrete plans. He doesn't want to show his cards too soon.

29. Riiiiight......
And Paul Wellstone never did anything REMOTELY like Dean did. Nor Eugene McCarthy. Or the civil rights activists in the deep south in the 50s-60s. Or how about the countless unions that have organized in this country over the last 100 years?

Trippi is the same old political hack who's inhabited the American politics landscape for over a century. The only difference is that he borrowed a couple different things from others that went before him and put them on the internet. However, instead of always picking losers, Trippi may have actually backed the right horse this time.

Maybe this whole "community" thing is "revolutionary" to folks who live in whitebread cookie-cutter suburbs, but I happen to live in a VERY civicly-minded urban neighborhood where I know my neighbors and am active in my community organization. This is nothing new: this is how we've kept our communities together for generations.

But, I suppose if all you've ever seen are cows, you're probably pretty suprised when you see your first pig.

33. I loved Dennis Kucinich's speech just now but the reality is that under
the primary rules for 2004, and given his current standing in the polls, he may not win a single delegate. You have to take at least 10% in most states, don't you?

His speech tonight might jumpstart his campaign but I think Dean has taken up most of the oxygen from those who support DKK.

36. Most (if not all) state require a candidate get at least 10% or 15%
to get delegates. THe top tier candidates divide up the rest. They did outlaw winner-take-all primaries. Kucinich's only chance for even 1 delegate is DC because only 4 candidates signed up for the ballot. Others are Braun Sharpton and of course Dean.

The 10% threshold is to discourage vanity candidates and find unity sooner--the theory anyway...
