50-50 America Is Spewing Venom
Edited on Tue Nov-04-03 05:49 PM by dArKeR
I believe the politically engaged in this country are profoundly polarized. (Ironically, I also believe this is happening at a time when the substantive differences between the parties are as narrow as they have been in decades.) I had thought, and many still think, that 9/11 diminished the schism that grew bloody during the Florida recount, that it unified the country. I no longer believe that. I think a toxic mistrust and deep disrespect of the “other side” will mark this election.

So, yes, Bush is vulnerable to repeating the fate of his father.
snip...

But my sense is that the feuding families of mistrustful voters are roughly equal in size. The election of 2000 is compelling evidence of that. A senior Bush campaign official told some CBS News reporters recently that the country is “closely divided” and this election “will look more like ’00.”

1. What foundation do the Repukes have to mistrust the Dems?
2. Any moral/honest/objective person can prove in a court of law 1000 factual points to prove why a Dem., (or any moral person), should mistrust a Repuke.

Mr. Meyer,

I'm not bashing you. Could you please honestly tell me and your hundreds of thousands of readers:

1. What foundation/issues do the Repubs have to mistrust the Dems?
2. Any moral/honest/objective person can prove in a court of law 1000 factual points to prove why a Dem., (or any moral American/Foreign person), should mistrust a Repub.

From one moral person to another, from one person who trusts you, I don't have time to list the 1000 facts now but I'm sure you know them. Ask, Andy, Mike, Dan... if you're really not sure.

As a moral person you need to tell us what factual reasons a Repub has to mistrust a Dem.

If you don't address this point to your readers, I might begin to mistrust you. And what else does our planet have to be proud of except the trust between moral people?

Thank you,

MyName

1. Why do they mistrust us?
Edited on Tue Nov-04-03 05:33 PM by Padraig18
Because we know what they did in 2000, and they know we know what they did in 2000. They will do anything to politically silence us, if they think they can get away with it.

2. Your Statement
fully answers your question.

They lied cheated and stole. Of course they expect us
to fight back.

3. Many people in the US have been taught that Dems steal your
money via taxes and that taxes are a big sin. Even most economists nowadays are against taxes. Any candidate (Raygun, Bush*, Ahnold) who says they will eliminate or reduce taxes will win. Any candidate who does not will lose. The mantra is that elections go the way of the economy. I don't think so. Gore had a super economy to run on, but almost as many people voted for W. Why? I think it's because they believed he would lower taxes. The distrust of Dems comes mostly from the phrase "tax and spend." We need to educate people that taxing and spending are not bad; that the money goes to people in our society: police, teachers, construction workers, corporations, nurses, health inspectors, etc. They get the money that is "spent" and then they spend it! It's better than not getting any money and letting the wealthy save it. Unfortunately, 85% of the US public doesn't see it that way. They've been taught that government spending is the same as flushing money down the toilet. So, they distrust Dems because they believe the Dems will flush their money down the toilet. Oh, and kill babies, love gays and ethnics, etc.

4. problem is, we can't lose....
a bush win in '04 would destroy the right so totally it really must horrify the neocons.....hate isn't a serious basis for national policy much less global...
I've always suspected that the ex marxist neocons like horowitz kristol etal were motivated by fear for Israel: the idea being that a racist sexist heartless america allied with Israel would ignore anything as long as Israel shared the bully mentality (which appears to be Israel's policy) but also that, way back in their youthful idealist days the marxists saw the general trend towards rightwingnut-ism in USA, and they decided to kill 2 birds one stone...one being the bit re Israel, the other being the leading of white racist america SO FAR down the garden path (bushwaco) even their own supporters will eventually look at them as pigs, plus they'll effectively destroy the golden goose (America always was a state of mind, where anything's possible, but NOT ANYMORE!)
haa, most American's can't even see they were blackmailed into supporting bush inc's mindless war in Iraq.....by bushinc!
