ACTION ALERT

Re: Chris Matthews' statement on NBC's Today show this morning that Dean
is the only candidate who opposed the Iraq war:

I just called the NBC viewer line at (212) 664-2333. It is possible leave
a recorded message with your comments.

I suggest we send out an email asking our friends to call this number asap
and leave a comment. They can say something like:
Chris Matthews' statement on the Today Show today, Friday, Sept. 26 was
not true. In fact, Dennis Kucinich is the ONLY candidate who has
unwaveringly and staunchly opposed the war in Iraq. Also, we are tired
of the biased coverage of the debates on NBC and want to see some coverage of the other, lesser-known candidates who were also on stage and who have important things to say. Chris Matthews should correct himself, and
should make an effort to be better informed of the facts if he's the one
NBC uses as their "morning after" commentator.

1. This is OUTRAGEOUS!
This is what comes from Dean going around and saying "I'm the only one...blah, blah,.." The media has taken on his spin.

I will call IMMEDIATELY!

2. Your message to the peacocks at NBC...
Would have a LOT more credibility if you said something like:

"Dennis Kucinich has always staunchly opposed the Iraq war, and any other pre-emptive invasion on the part of the Bush Administration, contrary to Chris Matthews' erroneous statement this morning on the 'Today' show!"

Follow the KISS Factor (and I'm not talking about Gene Simmons & Co. here!), and stay accurate. What you're proposing to say is not, in fact, accurate; as Dr. Dean obviously has opposed this war from the very beginning as well.

B-)

4. Forget the Kiss factor
Dean had NO VOTE on this resolution. Yes he is against it and I am glad that he is but he also had NOTHING to do with it. Dennis stood there and voted against it, spoke against it and gets no credit at all for it because Dean has proclaimed himself the ONLY one against the war. Sorry, I just had to rant and get that off my chest. I like Dean OK but this really makes me angry and I will not employ the kiss factor here. I will also not be rude.

5. Don't forget to mention
that he spoke out against it in February of 2002 in his famous Prayer for America Speech.

7. DK not only opposed but tried to ....
stop the war before it happened...as early as Feb 2002.

I think the complaint here is that Dean IS NOT THE ONLY ONE who was against the war- nothing against Dean...simply cutting DK out of the story...again.

Peace
DR

6. Just left my message.
Thanks for the info. Any chance to correct the record is appreciated. If we don't do the job that the media used to do no one will. What idiots to let something like that slide by.

13. I have called

and left a message earlier. Will be emailing as soon as my ISP gets it's email server back up. What a time for it to go down!

On edit: Okay...email finally went.

This morning Chris Matthews stated that Dean was the only candidate that opposed the war in Iraq. This is patently false. Back as far as February 17th, 2002, Dennis Kucinich addressed the beat of the war drums and spoke out against an attack on Iraq. He also worked to prevent it by encouraging a number of his fellow Congresspersons to vote against the IWR and marched with peace protesters.

Dennis Kucinich is not going to go away just because the media chooses to ignore him. His candidacy is very real and his supporters very serious about his run for the White House.
