Skull and Bones is an ultra-weak non-issue
Look, if these alleged cultists somehow got through to Kerry, I bet they would be regretting their actions for the rest of their life. If they hadn't "brainwashed" Kerry, then Iran-Contra wouldn't have been exposed so vigorously. Big business wouldn't have had to be as environmentally responsible. International financial frauds like BCCI would've gone unscathed. Gay rights would be less advanced. The horror and error that was Vietnam wouldn't have been so eloquently confessed. And so forth.

Skull and Bones has failed miserably with John Kerry, because he has voted more liberal than 89% of the senate in his career. This is a non-issue. It doesn't matter. It's so long time ago and it has shown no evidence of adverse effects. Let it go.

3. Brainwashing?
Is that what this is about? Anybody ever grow up in an organized religion? Now, that's major league brainwashing - they tell you who the blessed are, who's gonna be saved, why you're superior in God's eyes to people who happen to worship differently, etc. And the ideologues on both sides of the political spectrum are just as scary in my book.

of the "Bonesmen", planting a "liberal" who, once elected, will turn and serve his evil masters. Kerry may even be a "reptilian".

9. Okay
I just find it hard to tell sometimes in these Skull and Bones / Unification Church / Illuminati / Trilateral threads, simply because there are people on this site who believe this shit.

11. Yes.
Yes, a one year long glorified fraternity would definately make me want to sell my soul.

I went to Yale, I was not in Skull and Bones, but I was in another secret society (and have many friends that are alumnae of S*B)Let me tell you this: it's a senior year status symbol to be a part of a club. It's predominantly a social organization, but one that chooses, like many graduate schools, leaders of the school, defined in many different ways. At Yale, an inherently competitive place - its not based on just social standing. It's more like social standing or achievement based selection, ie The captain of the football team, the editor of the Yale Daily News, and others in similar leadership posts were recurringly "tapped" to Skull and Bones.

Skull and Bones may seem mysterious, but it's a sleepy institution part of an old American University.

5. It isn't a make or break issue, but it's in the same category as...
Dean's privileged upbringing, Yale degree, post college haze, carpetbagging, and Kerry's wealthy upbringing, etc.

Anything that any candidat has in common with Bush will be used by the press and by Bush to convince people the candidates aren't very different from Bush (remember how they did that with Gore?).

If the candidates seem too similar, a lot of people won't get energized to vote.

Remember David Brooks's stupid article about Episcopalian priviliege and boarding schools? You'll see a lot of shit like that.

Any one of these similarities won't sink any one candidate. However, and accumulation of these similarities quite possibly will sink the Democrats.

A Democrat who contrasts really well with Bush on every front will beat Bush.

12. It sucks for JK to be lumped with Bush
Skull and Bones takes two kinds of people:

1) Powerful Legacies (who have performed adequately at Yale) - George Jr., is one of these.

2) Student-Leaders who lead some organization, team, society or department -- ie overachievers. (like JK, who was NOT a skull and bones legacy- his family was not particularly wealthy).

6. It isn't with me
At the beginning, I was supporting Kerry, but when I found out that he was in this organization, that at the least promoted nepotistic and power sharing and promoting practices amongst the some 800 living members, I had to ditch him. Anyone that is in the same group as Bush and BushII, and might be beholding to them from past association has to go.

Whether this group actually is as evil as I think, or they are simply there to help each other out financially, with business decisions and political maneuvering, I don't want any part of it. The whole problem with our country is the grip that the wealthy, and the corporations have on our political system, in effect buying laws. Do we really want a guy who has not only this, but another 800 guys that he has to ass-kiss? Forget that, there are plenty of other guys in the race who are equally good, or better in Dean's case.

10. Dean's family is friends with the Bushes
Oh please. Kerry has always been a proponent for greater corporate responsibility. The Kerry Amendment for NAFTA, his service on the Small Business committee, the bankruptcy bill, etc. So Kerry spends hi entire life being a true liberal, then just because the old so-called influence of Skull and Bones 30 years ago gets to him, he suddenly goes against all his principles as soon as he becomes president? Pure bullshit. This is an issue that belongs in the tabloids.

BTW, do your research. Dean's family was VERY friendly with the Bushes. Dean's mother was friends with Barbara Bush, I believe. So does that suddenly disqualify him from your standard? Stop using double-standards. If you hold stupid things like S&B against Kerry, you have to hold stupid things like Dean's family friends against him as well.

13. Dean was also Yale and more conservative than Kerry.
Kerry is one of the more liberal candidates.
