From my observations at Du and other places, it appears that there are a substantial number of Democrats who will not support any candidate who voted for the war. The facts that **** had the propaganda machine turned up to full volume bringing public approval for the war to about 70% at the time of the vote, put tremendous polical pressure on them, and the justifications given for the war were greatly mistated (they lied) adding to the possibility that they could have been mislead along whith the general public, dosn't deter them. Now for the next question. What if there are a substantial number of moderate Democrats and sing voters who will not support a candidate who is against the war Especially someone as bald faced about it as Dean. Since most of the repubs will be united behind ***, it is imperative that the Democrats are united and then win the majarity of the sing votes in the next election. I don't know the answere to this question ; I'm sure the parties have done research on it. If this is the case then the Democrats will need a candidate that can transend beyond the war issue and unite the Democrats. The candidate who could do this is Wesley Clark. Clark , a former four star general, and head of NATO, has the national securaty credentails that would enable him to question the policies of the **** admistration without fear from the electorate that he might weaken national securaty. Listening to Clark speak , one would be impressed by the fact that he comes across as very intelgent and deep thinker.
